Efectos de derrame y de alimentación industrial en América del Norte: un enfoque nacional e internacional

Resumen

Una estrategia económica empleada por las naciones ha sido la formación de bloques comerciales bajo la teoría de las ventajas comparativas. Sin embargo, la evidencia empírica muestra que los multiplicadores del comercio sobre la estructura económica no son siempre como los predice la teoría. Este trabajo analiza los efectos de derrame y retroalimentación para una matriz de coeficientes internacionales en América del Norte construida con el modelo Chenery-Moses y con los datos de la UNCTAD. Los resultados sugieren que la estructura económica de Canadá, la derrama y la retroalimentación son mayores por el lado de la demanda; mientras que en el caso de México, son mayores por la oferta. Con respecto a Estados Unidos, la derrama y la retroalimentación son significativas por oferta y por demanda, además, los resultados muestran que las derramas que hace Estados Unidos a sus socios comerciales, por la vía de las exportaciones e importaciones, son menores de las que hacen Canadá y México a Estados Unidos.
