The launch of the third era of Ensayos Revista de Economía (Essays in Economics Journal) marks a milestone in its publishing history and scientific project. Committed to consolidating an editorial process similar to that employed by the world's leading scientific journals, and with the support of the journal's new electronic ISSN (2448-8402), which remains valid, the editorial team is implementing editorial policies, style guidelines, and specific rules to guarantee double-blind peer review, a fundamental element in any scientific journal.
This new cycle began with a worldwide call for articles, framed within the "First Ensayos de Economía Prize," awarded to the best published work, which attracted researchers from around the globe to participate in this award.
During the 2010s, the journal launched its first website, enabling its presence in various online libraries and boosting its image and reach within the global scientific community. This solidified its work with recognition as a Journal of International Competition by the Mexican Science and Technology Journal Classification System of the then-CONACYT-Mexico (Mexican National Council of Science and Technology). In 2017, the journal migrated to the full integration of the OJS/PKP platform, allowing for the standardization and universalization of editorial processes, in line with numerous other recognized scientific journals, while maintaining its commitment to free and universal access to knowledge.
In 2024, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its first issue, Ensayos Revista de Economía, in coordination with the Centro de Estudios Espinosa Yglesias and the Consejo Nuevo León, launched a call for articles focused on the theme of "Social Mobility in Nuevo León." This initiative included the "ESRU-EMOVI 2024 Research Award" for the best article, resulting in a special issue that attracted prestigious national and international researchers. The award ceremony was a highlight of the anniversary celebration.
Between 2025 and 2026, the editorial team of Ensayos Revista de Economía (Essays Journal of Economics) undertook a profound transformation of the website's image, content architecture, and menus, updating its editorial policy structure. They also introduced new AI tools for studying scientific publications, such as IssueSpotlight AI for each published issue. This analysis displays indicators and editorial summaries on article content, contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the knowledge network generated, and the international network of authors who contributed to the issue. Among these changes, the introduction of policies for the use and adoption of generative artificial intelligence stands out, as it will establish new global standards in scientific production and publication.
