Journal History

Ensayos Revista de Economía was first published in October 1964, making it one of the longest-running academic publications in the field of Economics in Mexico. Since 1990, the journal has maintained uninterrupted publication, always under a free open-access policy, thereby consolidating its commitment to dissemination, continuity, and editorial rigor.

By 2007, the journal had systematically implemented a double-blind peer-review system, an editorial foundation that guarantees the quality, impartiality, and academic excellence of the works it publishes, and aligns with the highest international standards.

In 2009, the journal obtained its electronic ISSN (2448-8402), which remains its current editorial registration. Together with its integration into the Open Journal Systems (OJS) digital platform in the 2010s, Ensayos Revista de Economía demonstrates its responsibility to the scientific community by providing universal access to and dissemination of economic science.

For over six decades, Ensayos Revista de Economía has been a platform for the expression of fundamental figures in Mexican and international economic thought. Among its most distinguished contributors are Daniel Cosío Villegas, Everardo Elizondo, Blanca Garza, Nora Garro, Jesús Marcos, Miguel Mancera, Leopoldo Solís, Eduardo Suárez, and Víctor Urquidi, as well as other prominent intellectuals and academics whose contributions have helped to ground scientific research in economics from Mexico and worldwide.

In keeping with contemporary challenges, Ensayos Revista de Economía promotes diversity, multidisciplinarity, originality, and the transcendence of economic knowledge with a social purpose. The journal is conceived as an open space for new frontiers of understanding, committed to rigorous analysis and critical thinking applied to the great challenges of equitable and sustainable development.

All articles published since 2007 are available in open access on the journal's official website: www.ensayos.uanl.mx, which guarantees their visibility, impact, and integration into global academic circuits.
